Web Design, E-Learning, Writing Portfolio | Chinook Multimedia

Over the years, we had the pleasure of developing a number of training courses for Edmonton Police Service (EPS). The courses are used in training Edmonton Police officers after they have been on the force two years.

VIRTUAL SOLUTIONS | TANGIBLE RESULTS

The Edmonton Police Service courses are now used by other police forces in Alberta and some other provinces. Nationally, the RCMP, and internationally, Interpol, began adopting the courses. With a need for greater capacity, course development and marketing moved from the EPS to the Alberta Investigative Skills Education Program, Solicitor General Staff College, GOA, Solicitor General and Public Security. To prepare for the larger market, the Solicitor General Staff College hired Chinook Multimedia to update the design and content based on feedback from subject matter experts and users. We also copyedited the courses. The Canadian Police Knowledge Network now manages the courses.

MEETING CLIENT EXPECTATIONS

Typically, EPS provided a draft storyboard and concept, and we met to discuss various development scenarios. We then provided development recommendations, a budget, and schedule for discussion.

Once we had an agreed approach, we created illustrations and animations, programmed the course, and assisted with storyboard development. We sometimes worked directly with EPS subject matter experts to assist with editing.

We thoroughly enjoyed working with EPS and the EPS team members, including Rick Gagnon, Detective Retired, EPS; Carol Glasgow, Sergeant, EPS; Cheryl Lepatski, eLearning Instructional Designer, EPS; and Betty Froese, Curriculum Designer, EPS.
